Audio Reel Transfer
At one time, audio recorded on analog reel to reel tape was the pinnacle of sonic excellence. Before everything went digital it was the ONLY way music was recorded in studios.
At the consumer level, reel to reel recorders and players were a huge hit up through the 70’s. After that, consumer level players and recorders were no longer manufactured.
There are still lots of great memories out there on audio reels and fortunately, we provide audio reel transfer to mp3 or wav files from tape recorded at 1 7/8, 3 3/34 and 7 1/2 inches per second. We’ll unlock those priceless audio memories and transfer them to digital to be enjoyed forever from any audio playback device.

Q&A on Audio Reel Transfer
There are many variables in determining how much audio you have because there are 3 different sizes of standard consumer reels and each reel may be recorded at 3 different speeds. We do not transfer reels over 7″ wide. Standard consumer reel sizes and recording speeds are:
- 3, 5, and 7 inches across
- 1-7/8, 3-3/4, and 7-1/2 ips (inches per second)
Tape reels may be double sided effectively doubling the runtime.
There is no way to predict how much is recorded on each tape so it is best to figure on the high side.
We HIGHLY do not recommend it due to the 80 minute time limit on CDs. MP3 files have no size or time limit.
While any USB drive should be fine for audio playback, we suggest newer and faster USB 3.o drives.
Absolutely.
Please allow up to 2 seeks for audio reel transfer.
Absolutely not. All work is done in LaSalle. Drop-off and pickup is at Technology Made Easy in Peru.
In most cases no with the exception of purchasing a USB thumb drive. You can purchase one at TME or supply your own high speed drive.
